France: ministerial meeting to prepare climate change summit

PARIS, Nov. 09 (MNA) – When there are only three weeks left for the world summit on climate change, a ministerial meeting opened in Paris on Sunday to discuss the main points for COP 21.

The meeting will take place until next Tuesday and negotiating groups will pave the way towards an ambitious, fair and legally binding final agreement.

Is expected the participation of over 60 Ministers from around the world, said the French Ministry of Foreing Affairs.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recently showed optimism about the summit, in which is expected the adoption of a universal agreement that allows to face global warming.

Ban stressed that key aspects of the agreement are yet to be defined and also said that success of the event depends on the willingness of member states.

Southern countries advocate the principle of common but

differentiated responsibilities, referring to the role of major industrialized nations in environmental pollution.

Negotiations at the Paris climate change summit will have to achieve a commitment on the emission reduction and focus primarily on loss and damage, adaptation, mitigation and finance.
